Ivan Vasiliev Gala Concert: 10 years of inspiration

April 14, 2017

12 May, the NOVAT’s stage will host a Russian National Artist Ivan Vasiliev Gala Concert, dedicated to the ten years of his artistic activity. He is celebrating his artistic anniversary on the NOVAT’s stage for a reason: as a guest soloist he has performed the leading parts in the ballets "Don Quixote", "The Flame of Paris", "La Bayadère" and amazed the Novosibirsk audience with his unforgettable performance of the legendary “Spartacus” part in Hachaturyan’s ballet (with the choreography by Jury Grigorovich).

Ivan Vasiliev started his artistic career on the stage of the Bolshoy theatre, where he became at the age of 19 the youngest artist to perform the “Spartacus” part and at 21 – the youngest principal dancer in this theatre’s history. Since 2011 Ivan Vasiliev is the principal dancer in the Mikhailovsky theatre. His prodigious technique, incredible jumps “hovering” in the air, artistic talent, infinite masculine charm and temper brought him a passionate love of the audience a worldwide fame.

Permanently busy on the world’s best stages, the dancer’s trying a shot at choreography, which has been his dream lately. “There is no producer out there able to express my inner world better than I do” – confesses the artist. The anniversary night in NOVAT is updated with two one-act ballets with the choreography by Vasiliev: “Blind affair” with the music by a contemporary German composer Max Richter, and “Love is all around” with the music by Igor Stravinsky.

The ballet dancers from Saint-Petersburg and the soloists of NOVAT will take part in the concert together with Ivan.

Ivan Vasiliev Gala Concert will take place in NOVAT on 12 May at 19.00. Tickets are available at the theatre box office and on the website.
