The rehearsals of Giacomo Puccini’s “La Boheme” by Alexey Stepanyuk started at the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. The director of the Mariinsky theatre once already has revived the performance, staged almost twenty years ago by a French director Benedict Ardiles.
“Perhaps, the structure of the performance will still include the parts, laid inside many years ago – told Alexey Stapanyuk. – But the first important thing is that I have changed personally, and also the brand new young artists take part in the production. A man would always love those people he’s working with, and care more about the ones you’re sharing the stage with.”
The director assumes that it’s the talented youth of the NOVAT’s opera company that would infuse the 1977’s opera with the new breath.
“Nowadays the young generation claiming to work in the theatre is very artistic and skilled, they know their parts thoroughly – noted the director. – The young generation always familiar and unknown at the same time, is exciting to work with. I presume their newborn fire will blast from the stage, add the fresh energy and prevent the opera from looking “obsolete”.
“La Boheme. Renovation” by the director Alexey Stepanyuk will premiere on 8th June. The tickets are available on the website and at the theatre box office.
