Victory banner was mounted atop of NOVAT dome on May 4th.

We are approaching a sacred date for all Russian people – another anniversary of the Great Victory. Traditionally, on the eve of May 9th a Red banner is mounted atop the dome of the Novosibirsk opera and ballet theatre as a sign of courage, valour and dedication of winner nation.

The very heart of the city, the biggest theatre building in Russia, the Novosibirsk opera and ballet theatre is a symbol and a contemporary of the Great Victory – the theatre was inaugurated on May 12th 1945. The Victory Parade is usually held in front of the theatre, on Lenin square. This is why the Red banner is mounted before the beginning of the parade rehearsals, inspiring both participants and audience.

Red banner with soviet symbols – a star, a sickle and a hammer as a sign of Victory of the soviet people in the Great Patriotic war was mounted atop the theatre’s dome up to 2017. Then following requests of the citizens and war veterans the Red banner was changed to the exact copy of the Victory Banner, which doubles as the assault flag of 150th Idritskaya rifle division awarded with II Kutuzov order, and which was mounted on Reichstag building in Berlin on May 1st. The Victory Banner mounted on the majestic theatre building is the biggest one in the Novosibirsk region, its area is 18 square meters.
