Russian ballet stars to open the Year of theatre at NOVAT

2019 is officially entitled the Year of theatre in Russia – in celebration of that, Russian ballet stars will take part in NOVAT’s January performances.

Principal dancer with the Bolshoi theatre, winner of several ballet awards Artem Ovcharenko will perform the part of Prince Désiré in P.I. Tchaikovsky’s “Sleeping Beauty” staged by Spanish choreographer Nacho Duato on January 11th and 12th. One of the most talented dancers of his generation, he performs brilliantly the leading parts of classical ballet, as well as those of neoclassical and contemporary productions. “Dance is the voice of his soul, noble and courageous” – as written by Moscow media.

Principal dancer with the Mikhailovsky theatre, whose temper, charisma and abundant talent have won the hearts of ballet admirers around the world, will perform again at NOVAT in January. January 19th Artem will perform Ali in a captivating ballet production “Le Corsaire”, January 22nd he will present one of his best characters, a winsome rogue Basil in a colorful, lively ballet “Don Quixote”.

Soloists with the Mikhailovsky theatre Anastasia Soboleva and Viktor Lebedev will perform title roles in “Coppélia” on January 23rd. The celebrity couple from Saint-Petersburg has already performed in NOVAT productions and won the Siberian audience with artistic charm, flawless technique and expressive acting.
