We have written earlier about what events await our audience at the very beginning of spring, and now we’d like to tell you what other surprises the March playbill is preparing for our guests.
An event that will certainly please not only ballet connoisseurs, but also the widest audience is the Svetlana Zakharova Gala Performance with the participation of world stars, which will take place on the Grand Stage of NOVAT on March 27 as part of the XI Trans-Siberian Art Festival. Principal dancer of the Bolshoi Theatre, laureate of the State Prize of Russia, People's Artist of the Russian Federation Svetlana Zakharova has invited the stars of the Bolshoi Theatre to participate in her festival gala – Honored Artist of Russia Ekaterina Krysanova, Honored Artist of Russia Vladislav Lantratov, Artemy Belyakov; principal dancers of the Mariinsky Theatre Nadezhda Batoeva and Kimin Kim; principal dancers of the National Ballet of China Qiu Yunting and Li Wentao; famous Russian dancer and choreographer Alexander Mogilev.
The opera repertoire of the Grand Stage in the second half of March is adorned with magnificent productions of classical masterpieces. Russian composers' superb pieces await the audience: A. Borodin's epic opera Prince Igor (March 16) and N. Rimsky-Korsakov's The Tsar's Bride (March 31) – a majestic Russian opera with the scope and intensity of Shakespearean tragedy. One of the most popular works of world classical music – the expressive, dynamic opera Pagliacci by R. Leoncavallo – will be performed on March 21.
The March ballet playbill includes performances, among which there are the unfading classical works – Don Quixote by L. Minkus (March 17), Swan Lake by P. Tchaikovsky (March 22 and 23), as well as famous productions by masters of choreography of the XX century – Notre Dame de Paris by Roland Petit (March 14 and 15), La Fille mal gardée by Frederick Ashton (March 20). The March repertoire includes popular S. Prokofiev’s ballets Romeo and Juliet (March 24 at 13:00 and 18:00) and Cinderella (March 30 at 13:00 and 18:00), as well as an interesting program of two modern one-act ballets Ssss and Radio and Juliet (March 13) – a spectacular combination of exquisite plastique and unexpected musical material. A charge of positive and bright emotions will be presented to young and adult viewers by the stunning family ballet Cipollino by K. Khachaturian (March 23 at 12:00) – a ballet tale based on the famous story by the Italian author G. Rodari. At the end of the first spring month, we invite the audience to plunge back into the magical atmosphere of the winter holidays with their favourite Christmas story full of miracles and bright hopes: The Nutcracker directed by Yuri Grigorovich will be performed on the Grand Stage on March 28 and 29.
The March repertoire of the Small Stage has been complemented by two concert programs, charged with a festive spring mood. The beginning of spring will be marked by the concert What Spring is Singing about!, which will take place on March 1. This program with the participation of favourite soloists of the Novosibirsk Opera and the wonderful ensemble Music for Us promises to give NOVAT's guests a coruscation of vivid emotions. The male soloists of the NOVAT Opera Company will congratulate beautiful ladies on the holiday of femininity, tenderness and beauty on March 8 with a soulful concert Men about Love.
