Spring Repertoire

February 29, 2024

Dear friends! Tickets for the performances of the final decade of April and the beginning of May have gone on sale.

We remind you that on April 11, 12, 13 and 14 NOVAT hosts the Gorky Moscow Art Theatre on the Grand Stage. This will be the third time the famous Drama Theatre shows its performances on our stage. This spring, the Moscow Company will present its recent premiere ‒ the legendary play The Three Sisters - a classic production of the play by A. Chekhov, realized by V. Nemirovich‒Danchenko in 1940 and carefully revived by stage director Sergey Desnitsky.

The big ballet premiere awaits the Novosibirsk audience on April 18, 19 and 20 ‒ the classic performance Le Corsaire revised by Alexander Omar. The ballet is imbued with maritime romance, and the beauty of classical dance is combined with risky adventures and oriental exotics.

On April 21, the relay of adventures will be picked up by a ballet extravaganza with a Russian flavour ‒ The Little Humpbacked Horse by R. Shchedrin. A fabulously beautiful ballet with bright dances, spectacular stage design, animation and special effects will be appreciated by both children and adults.

The spring ballet palybill has been supplemented by the works of masters of choreography of the 20th century: the ballet Anyuta staged by V. Vasiliev with the music by Valery Gavrilin on April 26 and 27, the performance by Roland Petit with the music by M. Jarre Notre Dame de Paris on the festive weekend of April 29 and 30. Tchaikovsky's eternally young ballets also adorn NOVAT's spring playbill: on April 24 and 25 - Swan Lake; in the afternoon and evening of May 11 - The Sleeping Beauty.

The opera playbill of April features the majestic opera Aida by G. Verdi (April 28). The performance staged by Vyacheslav Starodubtsev is solved in the original genre of fashion-opera, a spectacular stage solution combines classical opera traditions and modern design.

NOVAT's May playbill opens with romantic ballets by Sergey Prokofiev. Youthfully strong and open feelings await the audience in the ballet version of Shakespeare's drama Romeo and Juliet on May 2, the magical power of dreams will take you to the fabulous world of the ballet Cinderella on May 3 and 4.

A. Borodin's opera Prince Igor will be presented on May 5. The heroically powerful Russian opera is filled with patriotic feelings, the production impresses with epic majesty and a truly Slavic spirit of scenic solution.

On May 9 and 10, NOVAT, which was opened on May 12, 1945 and thus being a coeval of the Great Victory, will present the ballet Spartacus choreographed by Yu. Grigorovich. The performance about the power of the human spirit, about the indomitable desire for freedom, was conceived by composer Aram Khachaturian during the Second World War. He considered the image of Spartacus especially relevant in connection with the fierce liberation struggle that the Soviet people had to wage. We are waiting for you at the festive shows of the ballet, which is the legend of our theatre!
