The New Year miracles are already happening at the Novosibirsk opera and ballet theatre. The prop masters have decorated an amazing Christmas tree in the lobby surrounded by hand-crafted lead characters of the main New Year ballet – Nutcracker, brave Marie and Mouse King. The magic puppets will surely come to life on the main stage of NOVAT. Your favorite Tchaikovsky’s ballet “The Nutcracker” will cheer the Novosibirsk audience and the city visitors starting from 16th December till the very Christmas.
Besides that, NOVAT has prepared something else for the audience. At the beginning of each pre-New Year week a new Christmas tree will appear at the theatre. One of them is going to be decorated with the characters of your favorite ballets, the other one – with characters from opera world.
The unique puppets are carefully and lovingly made by the team of prop masters directed by Timur Gulyaev, creator of the drafts. Prop world of all performances is created with lots of efforts and limitless imagination. This winter the New Year mood is created on stage as well as in the lobby by the magic of these theatre fairies: Ivan Pokatilov, Lyudmila Buraya, Evgeniya Kondakova, Anastasiya Sofronova, Natalya Medvedkina, Timur Ahmadullin, Anton Kruppa. “At first, we wanted to set a big Nutcracker puppet under the Christmas tree, then we decided to add the lead characters of “The Nutcracker” ballet – tells Timur Gulyaev – this idea carried us along and we decided to decorate the rest of our trees with the theatre’s other productions. We hope our work will get the audience interested and this event will become a New Year tradition – each year new characters from the theatre’s premieres will appear under the Christmas trees”.
